1. Please italicize thoughts, put quotes ("") around spoken lines (no need to bold). Use double parenthesis (()) around out of character statements.
2. Netspeak is bad and should be shot. Avoid it at all costs.
3. Please make your Avatar a facial representation of your character. We don't care if you don't want to use someone famous, just make it a picture of what your character looks like. It aids in the RP. If you do choose to use someone famous, please see This Thread to make sure whoever you've chosen isn't taken.
4. This should go without saying, but try to leave an opening for the other character(s) with whom you are roleplaying. Attempt to give them something to work with, ask a question or just leave the situation "open." It's just good manners.
5. It's fine to manipulate the other character somewhat,(ie She saw the look on his face) but don't play God with other people's characters, it just angers them. If you need completely original minor characters it's fine to add them to your posting(s) and completely control them.
6. If you want a specific character to join you in your RP, add that to the subtitle. If any and all are welcome, specify that. If you're not sure how that works, ask an Admin via PM, Cbox, IM, etc.
7. If you apply for an OC that is related to any other character, we will ask that character’s player if they’re ok with it prior to approval. Nick may not WANT a younger or older sister/brother/cousin/puppy/houseplant. We do realize that this is usually worked out ahead of time, but want to err on the side of caution.
8. If you are considering a major plot change, you are required to attempt to anticipate who will be directly affected by this change and contact them. If the situation arises in the course of a thread unexpectedly, you are required to contact the other parties ASAP. This rule is not intended to limit creativity or spontaneity, but it isn’t fair to change a character’s arc without at least checking with the writer on it. This may be done via PM, IM, cbox, email or any other way you can think of.
9. Pregnancy and Children: One of the basis for founding this board was the death of another due to every other character becoming pregnant. Too many babies = RP Death. Therefore, if you want to plan a plotline involving pregnancy and birth, it must be Admin approved. Approval will be based on how well thought out the reasoning is, and how well it will further the plot of your character(s). Having a baby just to have a baby won't fly. Having said that, ANY character that wants to apply already having a child is also subject to Admin approval. If the kid's not old enough to talk and take part occassionally or even regularly, what's the point?
10. All rules are subject to change/addition/subtraction. We're learning what works and what doesn't as we go and the rules may change due to that learning curve. Any time there is a change, it will be announced. If you have any questions/comments/ concerns regarding any rule, please don't hesistate to contact an Admin.
